Nature tours in Johkula – from northern lights to autumn colours
Johku Wild takes small groups into Johkula's nature: in winter to the dark mires of Jänkälä to watch the northern lights and into the forest on snowshoes, in summer and autumn up the trails of Johku Fell. Our guides are local, and groups are kept to 8–12 people.
Northern lights without village lights
The northern lights tour leaves at 9 pm and drives about 12 km north to Jänkälä, where the sky is dark. The guide follows the aurora forecast and cloud cover and chooses the spot accordingly. Hot drinks by the fire, and help with photos on your phone.
Into the forest on snowshoes
On a snowshoe walk you move through deep snow without a trail. The 2.5-hour walk suits everyone, including children. On the longer wilderness hike we head to the Jänkälä mires and have lunch at a lean-to.
Up the fell in summer and autumn
Johku Fell rises to 512 metres, and the guided hike follows a 10 km trail via the Fell Café at the top. In September the same fell glows with autumn colours.
Your own guide
A private guide plans the trip around your group's schedule and fitness, in any season.
